So, when the Okanagan-based master stylist — she counts TV personality Jillian Harris and actor Taylor Hickson among her regular clients — and founder of Pomme Salon set out to create the brand PommeShell, she tapped her own industry knowledge, along with the experience of her salon team, to create a curated offering of hair tools.
We caught up with Pidherny to learn more.
Q. For those who aren’t familiar, what is Pommeshell?
A. Pommeshell is a line of quality hair and beauty tools and accessories, curated by the Pomme team of stylists and developed to target the specific needs we saw in our clients.
Q. Who is the target customer?
A. Our target customer is anybody — male, female, she, him, they — wanting to care for their hair and scalp and learn the why behind hair and scalp care. It is somebody who wants to invest in themselves and use research-driven beauty products that provide results to their problems.

Q. What makes the brand unique?
A. Our brand was developed to provide solutions to client hair issues we were hearing every day behind the chair and from our online e-consults. We couldn’t find the exact tools that we wanted to address these needs, so we decided to create them ourselves. We helped to execute, but Pommeshell was essentially created by our Pomme clients.
Q. You’ve been a hairstylist for quite some time now. How did this experience inform the product lineup?
A. As a young stylist — I’ve been one for half my life — I learned that using quality, high-performing tools makes a huge difference when it comes to hair. As I gained more knowledge of hair and tools, I saw a huge gap in the market for at-home haircare and client education. Clients would show me their old hairbrush that was twenty years old that was causing more harm than good or drying their hair with a towel that was creating frizz, and I wanted to offer them an alternative that I believed in.

Many of my clients are busy professional women who have limited time for themselves, yet want to look and feel great. I wanted to make it easy for them to create salon hair at home and to address their needs and hair woes. For example, I was inspired to create the Pomme Quick Dry towel because my clients complained about frizz and lengthy blow-dry time. This towel cuts dry time down by 50 per cent, while reducing frizz and adding shine. The Pomme Brush, on the other hand, was inspired by clients with knotty unruly hair, or those who simply couldn’t find a brush that could transition from shower to styling, without getting rusty or mouldy.
Q. Is there a ‘hero’ product in the line? If so, which one and what makes it so popular?

A. It’s so hard to choose! It would have to be a three-way tie between the Quick-Dry Towel, the Pomme Brush, and the Scalp Massager. If I had to choose one, it would be the Pomme Brush. It is heat and water-resistant, and detangles even the worst knots so it’s great for adults and children. The vents allow for the silicone bristle to breathe so no there is no risk of bacteria or mould so they are great for in the shower and tub! It’s truly the brush you didn’t know you needed.
Q. What is the price range for PommeShell products?
A. Between $15-$49.99.
Q. And, lastly, where can people check them out?
A. You can find it all online at Pommeshop.ca.
